"Embracing Our Heroes Shaping Our World; Educating Servicemembers, Spouses and Families"

The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) invites you to submit a proposal for presentation at the 2009 annual symposium.

The theme of the 2009 CCME Conference is Embracing Our Heroes Shaping Our World; Educating Servicemembers, Spouses and Families. The demands placed today upon our military members and their families are unprecedented. According to the APA Presidential Task Force on Military Deployment Services for Youth, Families and Service Members dated February 2007, Over 1.5 million troops have been deployed since September 11, 2001; 500,000 of them served at least 2 tours in a combat zone, 70,000 have been deployed three times and 20,000 have been deployed at least 5 times, leaving over 700,000 children in America with at least one parent deployed. As of August 2, 2008, 34,000 military have been physically wounded in action. The widespread psychological effects of this war will not be known for years to come. Undoubtedly, the military community needs our support.

We want to hear your perspectives on ways in which this population is being served and encourage you to actively participate in the 2009 Symposium by submitting a proposal for a concurrent session.

Some suggestions for this years concurrent sessions are:

The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, October 10, 2008. All presenters are expected to pay the CCME conference registration fee if attending the entire conference. Everyone who submits a proposal by the deadline will be eligible to win one free registration for the 2010 CCME conference. The winner will be determined in a random drawing.

Electronic submissions are required.
The online concurrent session submission form is at https://www.ccmeonline.org/concurrent_application.asp

Hello CCME Members,

The CCME website has been revised. We have more links to provide more information than before and, hopefully, better navigation.

At them moment you can submit an application for a concurrent session, nominate someone for an award or for one of the upcoming Board positions.

Most of the information that you will looking for will be under the 'symposia news' link for 2008. A tentative agenda is already out there and as proposals for concurrent sessions get approved they will also be on the site. The concurrent agenda will include an abstract along with the room assignment and time(s) of the sessions to make it easier to plan which sessions you want to attend.

The site is a work in progress so it still has a few rough edges. It is compliant with IE 6+ and Firefox 2+.

Go to http://www.ccmeonline.org/index.asp to view the site. Please correct any shortcuts you may have to the site.

If any user is having any problems with the site please contact me with the details.
